ARGENTINA EDGES MEXICO AND ADVANCES TO SEMIFINALS

Mexico will play the quarterfinals this wednesday
against Puerto Rico.

Argentina qualified to the semifinals by beating the host, Mexico, 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-20) in the final match of pools phase.

Alejandra Isiordia and Samantha Bricio tallied 11 points a piece, but Argentina had in Priscila Bosio the top scorer with 16, while Micaela Tassara recorded 11.

Argentina dominated the first set, while Mexico tried to get back with a hard game on the second. And had a little advantage at the beginning of the third but negative attacks put the South Americans ahead.

“The team fell in some anxiety, it was a good match, the girls wanted to do a lot of things, but anyway I think We could meet again in this tournament”, said Mexico’s coach, Víctor García.

“We played with more order and despite the previous matches, this was the first one with more intensity”, said Argentina’s coach, Guillermo Caceres.

Argentina will wait for its rival in the semis, while Mexico will face Puerto Rico in the quarterfinals.
