DOMINICAN REPUBLIC CLINCHES ITS SECOND VICTORY IN THE GIRLS U-18 PAN AM CUP

The Dominican Team has a 2-0 record.

TIJUANA, Mexico, July 4 2011.— Dominican Republic clinched its second victory in the U-18 Girls’ Pan American Cup by defeating El Salvador 3-0 (25-8, 25-11, 25-5).

The Dominican team had its best scorer in Brayelin Martinez, who tallied 15 points, and Erika Mota ended with 9.


El Salvador played its best set of the tournament on the second one, while Maria Jose Galeano registered 5 units to be the Central American team’s top scorer.

“We had a good start, but We lost our concentration ady Dominican Republic showed that big experience. Anyway I feel We played much better than in the first match against Peru”, said the Salvadorean captain Andrea Manzur.

For coach Sady Lopez, his team looked different despite of the loss. “We applied some position changes, and tried to do our best, but Dominican Republic is a too tall and good team”, He stated.

Height and service were key factors for the Dominicans, as captain Pamela Soriano and coach Wilson Sanchez expressed. 


“We had some problems with our service in our first match, but today We improved it, and played according to the things our coach told us”, said Soriano.

“We struggled at the beginning, but accomplished our tactical idea and the size of our players really helped us”, mentioned Sanchez. 


El Salvador will play against Puerto Rico this tuesday, and Dominican Republic will face Peru.
