MEXICO EARNS ITS SECOND VICTORY IN A ROW

Mexico is 2-0 and will fight for the top of Pool B against
Argentina this tuesday

TIJUANA, Baja California.- Mexico won its second match of the Girls’ U18 Pan American Volleyball Cup by beating Costa Rica 3-0 (25-11, 25-11, 25-9).

Samantha Bricio finalizó scored 21 points while Ana Nieto and Alejandra Isiordia tallied 10 each one for Mexico. Costa Rica had its best two scorers with Yuliana Gonzalez and Gabriela Arias, who recorded 4 each.

“We faced a team that is very well prepared. We don’t have that kind of preparation, but the tournament goes on for us”, said  Costa Rica’s captain Gabriela Arias.

“We put in practice what We did during training time, it worked, and We are focused to contend for the first three places”, stated Mexico’s Alicia Castro.

For Luis Martín Rodriguez, the Costa Rican coach, the participation in this tournament is part of a learning curve. 

“We are still in this process, but is important because the Central American Championship will be played in our country”, He said.

“I saw the girls very enthusiastic again, with great motivation, but We must keep correcting many things and fouls prior to the World Championship, and here we must fight to reach the first places”, told Victor García.

Mexico will play against Argentina this tuesday for the first place of Pool B, and Costa Rica will play against Chile.
